COVID-19 procedures for sanitizing kit and equipment

 

All of Path to Adventures kit will be sanitized either by being quarantined for at least 72 hours and/or by cleaning it thoroughly following each manufacturers guidelines before using it again for a different group of clients.

Our instructors will wash their hands thoroughly before and after handling Path to Adventures equipment.

 

The following sanitation methods will be used if there is less than 72 hours between using equipment for different groups of clients or instructors. Leaving equipment for 72 hours will be achieved whenever possible. Path to Adventure wetsuits are always disinfected after each use as standard.

 

DMM Harnesses:

Wash – In 30⁰ C [86F] water with liquid soap in the pH range 5.5 to 8.5 for 15 minutes.  Rinse thoroughly.  Dry naturally - away from direct heat.

Ensure free movement of air around the equipment both during quarantine and when drying after washing.

All other standard storage and cleaning instructions apply throughout this process.

 

Petzel Helmets:
Hand wash with soap and water at a max temperature of 65°C and a minimum of 30°C or wipe with cleaning product Incidin Oxyfoam from ECOLAB that is compatible with petzel helmets.

Peak UK Buoyancy Aids:

Leave for 72 hours or wash – In 30⁰ C [86F] water with Grangers Active Wash.  Rinse thoroughly.  Dry naturally - away from direct heat.

 

All Ropes:

Leave for 72 hours between uses or wash in 30⁰ C water with pH neutral soap and rinse thoroughly. Air dry.

 

Slings, Carabinas and Hardwear:

Leave for 72 hours between uses or wash in 30⁰ C water with pH neutral soap and rinse thoroughly. Air dry.

Wetsuits:

Wash using - Stormsure antibacterial wetsuit shampoo. Leave wetsuits submerged in product and cool water for 15 minutes, rinse thoroughly and air dry.

 

Archery equipment:

Wiped with anti viral disinfectant spray and disposable blue roll after each use or left unused for 72 hours.

Cooking pots, utensils and crockery:

Washed in the dishwasher on high heat or if not possible in hot water with washing up detergent. Gloves will be by instructors worn when handling these items during the session. Disposable paper cups will be used.

 

Equipment Containers:

Wash out with hot water and pH neutral liquid soap. Handles of plastic containers to be wiped with an anti viral disinfectant spray and disposable blue roll.

 

Boats and Paddles:

Wiped down with anti viral disinfectant spray and disposable blue roll.

 

Bushcraft tools:

Wiped with anti viral disinfectant spray and disposable blue roll

 

Emergency clothing in safety bags:

If bag is open or clothes used – machine wash at 30⁰ C or more

 

Instructor equipment such a Throw lines, Safety bags, Ghyll sacks and First aid kits:

Will only be handled and carried by instructors. To be left for 72 hours if washing is not possible or washed in 30⁰ C water after use with PH-neutral soap.
