Lake District

Get back to nature!

Our world is evolving so fast and its sometimes its hard to keep up with the fast pace of life. Take some time out and move your focus to something a little more simple and pure. Long before modern luxuries bushcraft was simply a way of life - a collection of skills and knowledge that helped you survive in the natural environment.  Our Bushcraft courses provide a novel way to share a new experience with family or friends. Get out and experience the peace and tranqulity of the woodland and learn about the fundamental elements of survival - shelter, warmth, food and drink.

Immerse yourself in a full day of survival skills or come along for a half day taster Bushcraft course. We also offer canoe journeys combined with bushcraft on Coniston Water where you can have a go at canoeing and then stop off and learn some bushcraft skills along the way.

Where our Bushcraft courses are held:

Bushcraft and survival skills courses are held in our private oak woodland in the Southern Lake District, close to Grizebeck and Broughton-in-Furness. The woodland is set in a 2700 acres of private country estate in an elevated position overlooking the beautiful Duddon estuary and is surrounded by rugged Lakeland fells. Peaceful and away from the crowds, the woodland is a place to get away from it all for a day and totally immerse yourself in nature.

Things you'll need for Bushcraft courses:

Clothes you don't mind getting smokey or a little muddy plus lots of warm layers if the weather is cool. Decent footwear such as walking boots or wellies.  We can run Bushcraft courses year round and have a large parachute for shelter if the weather is wet which means your fires will stay lit and you'll stay dry!

Bring snacks and drinks if you wish. We provide tea, coffee, hot chocolate and juice which you'll make of course over your fire! If you are here for a full day, you'll learn some bush cooking skills and cook your own lunch! Our half day tasters include cooking tasty Damper Bread or mini Pizzas.

Our woodland facilities include a composting toilet so you can have a little luxury in nature!

Bushcraft holiday sessions:

We run a selection of activity sessions including Family Bushcraft during the holidays which are open for anyone to book on. Great value for money and a fantastic opportunity to meet new like minded people. Available dates and prices are listed here: Holiday activities in the Lake District
